These levels represent the different amount of awareness that consciousness has about the world and the self. Minimal consciousness is when sensory input receives information and directs behavior without the individual knowing, usually occurring during sleep. This happens to me almost every night and I forget the dreams I had, so I have no idea what I was trying to do. Full awareness is when the individual is aware of everything and you are able to report the state you are in. Self-awareness is the hyper-aware sense of yourself as the moment you realize you are an object in space. This awareness typically occurs in adolescents, and another interesting fact is that animals also go through self-awareness. To find out what people think, psychologists use the experience sampling technique which shows that consciousness is dominated by the immediate environment, followed by the person's current concerns. Daydreaming is the state of consciousness where an endless stream of thoughts comes to mind, it may seem like you are wasting time but your brain is active. Wouldn't people daydream all day considering they're constantly scrolling through new and old thoughts when they're not focusing on something? For example every time they constantly remind themselves of future events or look at the environment. People usually have thoughts that bother them repeatedly
