In any institution, there is always a need to initiate new policies and renounce others with reference to changes noted once the policies are in play. As noted in the penitentiary, there is an apparent gap in their policies, hence the escalating current situation. To prevent the same from happening in the future, therefore, it is necessary to review existing policies in order to determine the necessary changes. The first policy to be looked at for review is in relation to prisoners with current or previous mental conditions. Despite the fact that isolating such cases may be considered stigmatizing, for the sake of their safety and the entire facility it is necessary to institute new policies to keep these people in different conditions than the rest of the inmates.
