The Sketching Process Sketching, a rough, unfinished drawing, is often made to help create a more finished image. Most people, especially artists, draw before using permanent materials like paint to avoid mistakes. These sketches are used as guides or templates to complete the final product. On some occasions even sketches are considered works of art, such as Leonardo Da Vinci's famous sketches. Sketches are usually done with pencils or charcoal, as it is not permanent and can be easily erased if there are mistakes. The main focus of this essay; an architect, must design buildings regularly, as it can improve skills and promote ideas. There are many ways to draw pictures, especially buildings which can be learned easily in just a few steps. The first and most important thing to do before drawing is to get the right materials, as it can be very difficult to sketch using poor quality or incorrect materials. Most of the materials used for drawing are relatively common, as you can find them in art stores and even a bookstore. One of the things needed for drawing are H pencils. H pencils are the hardest pencils, which is why they are used to draw thin and straight lines. H pencils are mainly used for architectural and business sketches. We recommend getting an assortment of H pencils that includes 6H, 4H, and 2H pencils, as 6H is the hardest and 2H is the softest. The second material is B pencils, which are the softest pencils available in stores. B pencils are used to create smudged and blurry lines, B pencils are also used for shading. Being the favorite choice of architects and artists for drawing, it is also recommended to place the details in the center of the paper. Next, start adding internal shapes and draw them to scale, for example, when drawing the Petronas Towers, make sure the skybridge and mall are the appropriate size. Smudges will appear on the paper, as the lead of B pencils is soft. These stains can be erased, but you may accidentally tear the top layer of paper. We recommend using a soft eraser such as putty eraser, as putty eraser will lighten the lines, not eliminate them completely. More details can be added until you are satisfied with your work. Finally, to finish the design, lightly add a signature in cursive to the bottom of the design. You can also add the date the sketch was completed in your signature. By adding your signature, you can proudly display your work and receive recognition, and as a way to prevent other people from plagiarizing your design.
