Sexual harassment/assault is a growing problem in the United States. In this article I will highlight the meaning of sexual harassment, some signs, behavioral theories and concepts related to being sexually harassed. The history of sexual harassment dates back to slave times, when it had no meaning or name, but women activists protested against it. I will explore the statistics on sexual harassment and how it occurs more commonly in women. I will also connect my personal experiences as a teenager dealing with my sexually harassed sister to her first job. Research shows that women are more affected by sexual harassment or abuse, especially when it happens in the workplace. They find it more difficult to move on after experiencing harassment and move forward comfortably. This problem usually has a more long-term effect on women than it would on men. Men are usually the ones who initiate any sexual acts that will take place. Therefore it is more common to find that men harass women, not saying it is never the other way around, but women are shown more in my research. My personal experiences are not exactly direct, but they have given me first-hand insight into how this issue is sometimes difficult to recognize but very important in today's society. Studies show that being sexually harassed can affect and wreak havoc on psychological health, physical well-being, and professional development. Therefore it is best to be aware of the history and behavioral concepts of this problem to prevent it from happening to you too. Sexual harassment is a growing problem in today's workplace. The signs and causes of harassment are not always easy to spot. There is a growing number of cases through statistics and real cases that have been headlined in the news... in the middle of the paper... years of work there to find inner peace within her and move on with her life. Therefore, as research shows, women are more affected by this common problem on a daily basis and this must stop. Sexual harassment and abuse in the workplace is a major problem in the United States today and is changing lives forever. Trust, I still suffer from it today because I feel guilty for not having been aware of these problems at an early age. I feel everyone should look for the signs and behaviors of this problem so they can be aware of how to deal with it. That would be very smart of people because dealing with it is the hardest part, so knowing the behaviors before they happen is beneficial. Better safe than sorry is what they say, but in this case my sister was upset. Therefore, it is best to be aware of how serious sexual harassment can be and how this is a growing problem in today's workplace..
