Topic > Observation: My Calling - 1339

I decided to do my field observation at Temple Beth David Preschool. It is a private preschool in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. I decided to go to a private school because that is the position I want for where I would like to teach. I believe I would excel working in a private setting. I also love that in addition to teaching valuable education, you also teach students about their religion. A small school like Temple Beth David creates a close-knit, family-like community. It brings together religious leaders, teachers, parents and students to ensure its students receive a high-quality, moral and valued education. I hoped that this field observation would strengthen my inclination. He did this and much more. I had never realized the amount of work it takes to be a good teacher. The lesson plans, the mental and emotional strain, and the amount of effort truly required. I have learned the value of a unified teaching system, what practices I will want to use in my classroom and others I will not use, effective management skills, what educational theories I believe in and which ones I will want to use, and numerous personal knowledge, skills and values. From the first day of observation I noticed the amount of time and dedication that comes with the title of teacher. Being able to sit and watch really gave me a new perspective. As I observed the class I noticed all the minute but extremely important details that a teacher needs to complete. For example, while observing the class, I saw the teacher setting up all the tools needed for class projects. I also noticed the way the teacher pays so much attention to each of his students, so he knows when even the slightest behavior is wrong, for the individual student. I took... half the paper... ess. It opened my eyes to so many joys, so much stress, and countless hours of lesson preparation. I hope to gain as much preparation and understanding as possible on my journey to becoming a professional teacher. After this experience I know that this is what I was born to do; This is my true calling and passion in life. I hope my teaching inspires my students to achieve greatness and pursue their passions. Now I see what a truly enormous responsibility it is to teach students: they are our future, as cliché as it may sound, and they are the leaders of tomorrow. With this responsibility will come great sacrifice, dedication and determination that I will gladly give to ensure my students receive the most influential mind-opening education. This experience has given me such a positive outlook and I am really excited to finish my studies and pursue my teaching career.
