Unfortunately, most people do not see the connection between eating meat and encouraging animal abuse. Animal abuse is generally described as any act or omission that causes unnecessary or unreasonable harm to an animal. Animals such as chickens, pigs, cows and turkeys are confined in tightly packed cages for twenty-four hours a day without fresh air or sunlight. In the cages, the animals are brutally attacked and tortured by factory workers (PETA). The cows are repeatedly impregnated every four months and boosted with hormones, so they can produce more milk. Most of the animals often suffer from stress, various diseases and contamination in the stables due to the congested area. Chickens are pumped with hormones that cause their body mass to grow rapidly, but their muscles don't grow as much as their body mass. As a result, chickens cannot stand or walk properly and are unable to compete with others for food; resulting in death. Furthermore, when cows are useless, they are taken to the slaughterhouse where their throats are cut with a knife while they are still conscious (PETA). Animals suffer all this abuse for the sake of our mouths. Most people don't think about these inhumane practices while purchasing meat from
