Topic > Discourse communities: improving goals through sharing...

The main source of student writing comes from numerous written essays, especially ones like these where opinions need to be expressed. In many English classes, debates and essays that embody students' beliefs are recorded. A great example is the “Scarlet Letter Essay” from our freshman English 1 class. As one of the first debates, most students give it their all and express many opinions about both the class and the school in general. Additionally, the Lincoln Charter Yearbook strongly embodies the spirit of many LCS students. It is able to show all the faces of LCS, along with many activities that everyone participates in and through which everyone bonds. These different genres provide significant insights into LCS students' overall thoughts and were really able to help me see students' intentions and arguments as a whole.
