Topic > Nurse Philosophies: My personal philosophy of…

Advocating for my patients is an important part of my current nursing role. I am the voice of patients who are incarcerated and who are unable to pick up the phone and access care like most of the general public. Once again I approach the issue as before, for example, it is not acceptable for my mother not to be evaluated by a cardiologist for four months. Therefore, I will also advise my patient not to wait so long. Treating every patient with human dignity is a duty, and it is imperative to me that, despite the circumstances a patient may find themselves in socially or legally, I treat everyone equally and protect their rights as I would my own.
