Sariah DurrantHow can you ever trust anyone? An autobiographical narrativeI felt like my heart had been ripped from my chest and my lungs had been torn to shreds. I stared in shock at the tiny, pathetic screen of my cell phone as it broadcast the message that changed my life forever. I guess I always knew what was going to happen. Human beings cannot be trusted, no matter what they tell you or how they behave. They always smile and lie through their teeth, then turn around and stab you in the back. You think people can change or are different and won't hurt you, but you're wrong. No matter how hard you try, every single person on this planet can hurt you. And there's nothing you can do to stop it. In fact, I had begun to believe what I was told and what I so ignorantly thought too. It all started at the eighth grade graduation. Well, truth be told, it all started in seventh grade when I finally let my guard down and let my heart be won by a scheming stranger. I was a little more than casually interested in this young, goofy guy and now I realize that's a mistake I'll never make again. All my love was taken and crushed to the ground by a rude, arrogant teenager who shouldn't be trusted. There is only one thing I have learned is true for every single person I meet. They all lie. They tell you that they will be there for you, or that they will be your friend, or that they will never abandon you. It's disgusting, all those dirty, horrible deceptions, not a word of what they say is true. It's all good and exciting when you think you've finally met the one person who "would never do something like that to you", but that makes things even worse when... middle of paper... that through this experience, there are people who are truly there for you and who will stay and help you through your trials. Some people believe that you need many friends to feel loved, but I have found that I only need one friend to appreciate the beauty of friendship and the wonderful complexity of life. I have learned that one word, one smile, just one person can change your entire outlook on life. You really only need one friend to overcome all your problems. The joy you can find in a simple friendship is absolutely amazing. The best thing about this experience is precisely the fact that I will always remember it throughout my life and that it can be applied to so many things that will most likely happen. I will always remember that only one person, one simple person, can make the most important difference in this entire universe.
