To begin with, one of the most influential black African Americans is known as Frederick Douglass. Throughout his life he worked hard to fight for life and equality. The purpose of this research paper is to discuss information about the life and impact of Frederick Douglass. First of all, Frederick Douglass's early life was horrible and very difficult. He was born in February 1818 in Tuckahoe, Maryland. 7 His parents belonged to two different races. His father was white while his mother was African American. At that time slave auctions were held to sell black slaves to white landowners. It was during a slave auction that Frederick Douglass was separated from his black mother as a child. His mother was sold and Douglass never saw an inch of her again in his entire life. Furthermore, Frederick Douglass never got to see his white father in his entire life. Well, he only knew that his father was, but nothing else. But he believed his white father was his master. His master's name was Aaron Anthony. So when Frederick Douglass ran out of money, he had to leave with his grandmother for a plantation in Maryland. When Douglass was seven years old he began to witness slavery and racism. He witnessed firsthand brutal and painful whippings of his fellow friends. Furthermore, every single night when he was in bed, he would always sleep in fear because of the horrible things he would witness. For most of his days as a slave he would suffer from hunger or thirst. Or most nights he slept on the floor shivering and cold, with no food in his body. Douglass was released on bail to the plantation without even knowing it. So now he had no one in his family close to him. Frederick never recovered from betrayal, slavery and racism.
