Many Americans today rely on the Internet for two main reasons: information and connectivity. Some may consider it the largest library available due to the endless information it can provide. It has further improved people's knowledge of what is happening around the world and has proven to be a very powerful tool that anyone can use. Communication has improved not only here in the United States of America, but also in other countries thanks to social media. Despite all this, there is still a clear problem for American citizens in terms of Internet regulation. There is clear government intervention when it comes to regulating the Internet. Under net neutrality, companies should not limit what and how much information or media users can access. Every citizen deserves Internet freedom, which is also linked to the privacy and identity of people who use the Internet. The government should protect its citizens from Internet threats such as bullying and stalking, as well as from fraud or theft such as the compromise of credit card or bank account information by phishing websites and hackers. This paper will examine the issue of Internet regulation in the United States today. The article will first discuss the importance of the Internet and its spread in the United States through the use of statistics. Then I will explain three issues in Internet regulation, namely net neutrality, Internet piracy and privacy. In response to the problem areas mentioned above, there are three government policy solutions to the problems; Open Internet Preservation Act of 2014, Stop Online Piracy Act, and The Do-Not-Track Online Act of 2013.
