Grant is very famous is because of all the interesting things he has done for the country when he was alive. Ulysses S. Grant is an extraordinary and interesting man for the excellent work he has done. He accomplished many things that most people never accomplish. He was the best and bravest commander in the history of the United States. He was a strong and courageous man when it came to battles and wars. This research paper relies on him for everything he has done. Ulysses S. Grant grew up on a small farm in Point Pleasant, Ohio. When he was young and graduated from high school he went to West Point Military Academy in New York City (Gaines 7). Later in his life he experienced the United States' war with Mexico and the Civil War where he joined the Union Army. Additionally, Ulysses S. Grant became famous for being the top Union commander during the Civil War. Grant helped the people of the Northern United States by telling them that he would protect, serve, and stop the Civil War (Matthew 1). He was a leader to many Americans for outstanding work, work and helping the country through difficult times over the years. What made him famous later in his life was the fact that he became the only and best 18th president of the United States and served for four years. He was going to be gone for eight years but started to feel unwell and couldn't handle the stress. He then became the nineteenth president of the United States. He was a good and recommended president; he also handled the problems of the United States and solved them. He became president soon after Andrew Johnson; Abraham Lincoln was assassinated after the Civil War when Grant was commander and Andrew took over as ...... middle of paper ...... good friend of Abraham Lincoln, when there was a problem they would meet and discuss it . Ulysses S. Grant was in New York on a small farm with his wife and son Jesse Root Grant. Fourteen years had passed since Grant took office when he finally realized that his throat was starting to hurt and so was his head. He went to the doctor and ended up having throat cancer and after three days he became very ill and began writing his last letters to his children and some of the men who were with him in the battles of the Civil War (Jolley1) . He later returned to Washington and spent the rest of his life there until his death in a few weeks of grief. The letters reached most people. After all, Ulysses S. Grant was a very accomplished man and did a lot to improve our country and make it what it is today. He sacrificed a lot of his time to get our country back up and running.
