Topic > Analysis of a Local Church's Missionary Program - 1718

The purpose of this article is threefold. First, analyze and study the missions conducted by my church. Second, evaluate your strengths and weaknesses. And finally, provide suggestions on how my church can improve to fully realize the Great Commission. The local church whose missions program I chose to study is Fellowship Bible Church (FBC) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is the church I have attended all my life. So I've seen the involvement and sometimes lack of involvement in the missions that have brought us to the point we are currently at. Why is FBC involved in Missions? Lead Pastor Eric Bryan explains why: “Plain and simple, Fellowship Bible Church is involved in missions because that's what Jesus commanded us to do! His parting words to his disciples included “go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19) and “ye shall be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8) to the ends of the earth. . After Jesus' ascension, those disciples relentlessly and passionately proclaimed the gospel message just as their Savior commanded them to do... and the command has not changed... even in the 21st century! It is both a privilege and a priority to be on mission for our Savior, and we, as a local body of believers, will continue to passionately pursue opportunities to share the Good News with those who have not yet come to faith in Jesus Christ.” (Bryan) The stated purpose behind why we have a mission team is to “Mobilize Fellowship Bible Church to proclaim the gospel, make disciples, and plant local churches here and around the world.” (Beasley) Overall the FBC has done well in proclaiming the gospel and planting/supporting churches around the world through its finances. This is one of their strengths… the middle of the paper… the gospel of Jesus Christ for the lost. If local church members don't do this, they need to check their pulse and see if they are even in the kingdom. Works Cited Beasley, Neil. "Questions about missions." Message to Julie Shoemaker.
