The series has since sold over 100 million copies. He published the first in the series, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, in 1950. Although it has often been criticized. due to the contrasting elements, it remains a perfect mix of courage and Christian symbolism. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe illustrates a strong theme of courage. Courage is the quality of mind or spirit that allows a person to face difficulty, danger, or pain with courage. Aslan displays courageous behavior by showing courage in the face of death, rather than simply killing the witch right away. "If there is anyone who can stand before Aslan without knocking his knees, he is either braver than the others or simply stupid." (Lewis 64) Aslan is so majestic that most creatures find him intimidating. Being brave enough to face Aslan wouldn't necessarily mean legitimacy. It could simply mean that someone was too stupid to understand how big it really is. Aslan is not the only one with courage in the story...... middle of paper......unded Narnians and his brother Edmund. It is similar to how the blood of Christ heals. In conclusion, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis is not just a children's story full of imaginary creatures, but an allegorical representation of the biblical story and a quest to find one's identity. Force. Although authors such as JRR Tolkein once criticized his Narnia books, they remain among the most beloved books of classic children's literature, selling over 100 million copies.
