T-Bone Walker was born May 28, 1910 in Linden, Texas; his real name was Aaron Thibeaux Walker. T-Bone's father and mother were both musicians who separated not long after T-Bone was born ("T-Bone", n.p.). T-Bone once said that his earliest memory was hearing his mother playing blues guitar on the porch ("T-Bone", n.p.). Through his church choir and his stepfather singing on the street, T-Bone became interested in music. At age 10, T-Bone accompanied his stepfather to drive-in soda stands ("T-Bone and Rock & Roll", np). During the same period he became the "lead player" of Blind Lemon Jefferson from 1920 to 1923; Walker would lead Jefferson through the streets of Texas. (“T-Bone and Rock & Roll,” n.p.). When he was two years old his family moved to Dallas because his mother wanted a better life for her children.
