Schools Kill Creativity“Creativity is now as important in education as literacy, and we should treat it with the same status”-Sir Ken RobinsonIn his lauded speech on Technology, entertainment and design (TED), Sir Ken Robinson asked a question: do schools kill creativity? This has been a controversial issue since the inception of the formal public education system in the industrial revolution era to meet the needs of the time. Currently, many reforms have been made globally in the education system, especially the use of technology and the increasing amount of alternative education, to reduce dropouts and meet the challenges of an ever-changing society, has not been satisfactory. Creativity defined as the use of an imaginative or original idea to create something of value, has been suppressed in school especially with standard evolution methods. All the focus is on academic skills and passing exams to get a job that isn't even certain, ignoring passion, talents and cultural identities.
