Magical realism, the term itself is a contradiction. When you think of reality, magic usually doesn't come to mind. It is a literary style that dances on the edge of reality and a completely different world. We see extraordinary things, but in completely ordinary contexts. Magical realism is a metaphor because it associates the word magical with something non-magical like realism. It makes us wonder what reality really is, we are exposed to something completely foreign and we need to make something out of it. So, magical realism.
