Topic > Management Going Around: Ethical Dilemma in Business

Disclosure is a very important aspect to discourage unethical behavior. A tracking mechanism can be a hotline, an employee comment box, a web page, or any other way that information can be conveyed to management (Jennings, 2012, p. 291). Sensing can help in the analysis of how necessary objectives can be achieved (Martens and Day, 1999). The use of anonymous third-party computer systems or hotlines is the bare minimum to provide employees with situations involving potentially inflammatory reporting (Jennings, 2012, p. 291). The use of Management By Walking Around (MBWA) is a process that involves upper management in daily activities (Jennings, 2012, p. 292). This provides insight that these managers wouldn't otherwise have, gaining insight into how the typical employee feels about the job, the workplace and colleagues. Without this, the manager could easily remain busy in the office and remain secluded, but this would be detrimental to the flow of information from the front line (Jennings, 2012, p. 292). Managers should understand their employees to better plan future policies and procedures. This would require the use of a functional detection system
