The roaring 20s where deprivation and depression are the daily problem. The post-war period really made every woman and man go into a mania of love and happiness. However, with the war over, it was everyone's best opportunity to rejoice in their victories and dress to impress. The 1950s are where; nothing but girdles and bras are in every girl or woman's mind as the most desirable. However, both eras not only want to feel loved and desired, but respected by men and have equal rights. In today's generation, if it weren't for the women of the 1920s and 1950s, there would be no women's rights and there would certainly still be a huge amount of discrimination today. If there were no change, change is progress even in the smallest ways like underwear. Women like to feel beautiful wearing corsets and camisoles, which are also comparable to today's Victoria Secret lingerie. The most diverse and technological generation to date is the present, compared to the 1920s and 1950s, where things like the iPhone and social media were nothing but the future. Advertising was definitely starting to develop, but the 1920s and 1950s never thought it would expand so much. The roaring '20s, where jazz and aspiring painters try to make their big break in the world. The fashion however is very simple, nothing more than a shapeless dress, straight down to the knee. The 1920s are where something called cami-knickers began. Tank tops were invented in the early 1920s and immediately became a huge success. This was also where the name "boyish generation" began (fashion designer, 2011) as the cami - panties were made from just a camisole and panties sewn together, it was the perfect invention...... means of paper.... .., showing girls with incredible figures with basic underwear for every day or a sexier look for the weekend, which in some cases can be taken to court because explicit (courier, 2013) Today comes also made a lot of publicity by many celebrities (Huffington post, 2014) Going through all the different generations, you can see how the change in tank tops had such an effect on the population during the 1920s, and also how girdles increased the popularity of the economy of the 1950s, but these two minor impacts not only had a significant impact on that time period, but also have an effect on the present day. Because not only was the change positive, but it shows that time repeats itself, and so styles and trends came back into fashion and for many lingerie companies they even produce similar or exactly the same types of underwear to this day..
