Teenage and college girls are overly obsessed with body image and constantly think they need to be much thinner, when they aren't even fat. Many women today have a misconception of what the perfect body is, as there is no such thing as a perfect body. Every person is different and "perfect" cannot exist. Being thin is not the thing to aspire to, but rather being healthy is. In this decade, women are constantly looking at models, TV shows, and Instagram photos of girls who are skinny or just really skinny, and think that this is how we as women in society should look. The problem is that by excessively watching these photos or television programs, women become self-conscious, obsessive, unhealthy and just plain unhappy. Sometimes it is simply impossible to get to the same place as the famous people we see on the Internet or on television. So many people have this perfect image in their mind of what they should look like or how things should be and that's why they end up disappointed. As people of a culture and community, we need to move away from the Internet, and television programs that promote being very thin and make people aware that beauty is found in people, no matter what size they wear. Once we stop constantly checking television, magazines, the Internet for inspiration from models and women who almost never eat, women can start to feel happy with their personal appearance. The best solution would be to watch TV programs and the Internet to find inspiration for healthy living. Obsessing isn't even the way to lose weight, to stay happy there needs to be a balance between eating well and staying fit. Constant comparison is never necessary.
