Today I will talk about agricultural service technicians and how they can become one, what classes they need to take in high school and college, what they do, where they do it, and how they do it. I believe this job is a great job because it pays well, I like having a job where I can use my hands and the last reason is that I could do this for the rest of my life. The technicians' working environment is in a large, noisy shop. They usually lift heavy tools and components (BLS). They often have to lie or stand in difficult and uncomfortable positions (BLS). Sometimes technicians have to make service calls because transporting the equipment often requires too much money. A service call is when technicians go out to the farm or construction site and fix what is broken. Many technicians work six or seven 12-hour days, and a lot of overtime is required in this night and weekend (BLS) work field. Most agricultural service technicians work on everything from tractors to cranes to cars to dump trucks. They repair small and large engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions and vehicle electrical systems (BLS). Most modern vehicles have something called a computer. This computer basically runs your car or tractor, tells it how fast you can go, how much gas your car can have, and lets you know if there is something wrong with your car or tractor (BLS). The computer turns on all the lights on the dashboard, if there is something wrong with the engine, the check engine light will come on ext (BLS). the only way to figure out what's wrong with your computer-equipped vehicle is to use a diagnostic computer. This is most likely a wiring problem. Older cars never had computers, so technicians had to know what they were doing... half paper... seven days a week if necessary. You never know where you'll have to go when you get to work or how big the job will be. Bottom line, I think this would be the greatest job ever. I enjoy working with tools, in shops, in the field and on heavy equipment. The pay is pretty good, jobs are getting easier to get because more equipment is being built. All the courses required for this job are quite simple. Works Cited Heavy Vehicle and Mobile Equipment Service Technicians."
