I am Yasir Zaidan Abdu, I will be applying for MPP program in Hong Kong this year. My plans are confined to the field of strategic planning of the Nation. In particular, in Sudan, my country, people have suffered many complex problems since the declaration of its independence. Furthermore, the third place among the most corrupt countries in the world¹, the poor practice of democracy, 46.5% of the population is poor², civil wars (South Sudan and Darfur) and lack of security are Sudan's main challenges . After an in-depth analysis of the situation in Sudan I have come to the conclusion that there is no clear vision for the state and that awareness of strategic planning is low among our current government leaders. Indeed, the limited vision of our current leaders was the main reason for the disastrous separation of the southern part of Sudan. As a result, the agreement was very ambiguous regarding the situation of the contact areas with South Sudan, leading to a civil war in those areas (South Kordofan state and Blue Nile state). Additionally, in my third year of engineering I started to rethink my future career and exactly what I wanted to be. With this concern I had the chance to enter the Leaders Training Academy in Türkiye. This academy is concerned with training potential leaders in Arab countries. One of the courses I took there was about life planning and how to discover yourself. I took many career and personality tests like DISC test, but the results were not in favor of Engineering. Subsequently, I realized that my interest, personal preparation and skills are in public activities, which provide public contact such as in management, economics and public services. As a result, I decided to change my… Expenses, scholarships and grants give us a great opportunity to overcome our financial constraints. With all my intention and obligation to be part of a positive change in Sudan that can reduce the poverty rate and develop the country politically and economically, I applied to the Scott and Isabelle Black Fellowship to give me the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for such a huge change. I believe that life is fair and that financial constraints will never be an obstacle for those who are faithful, visionary and hardworking. Furthermore, great people usually overcome obstacles and difficulties to achieve miracles. Thus begins the journey of miracles; the miracles that would not be achievable without the support of your scholarship.
