Topic > Veterinary Technician - 773

Since I was about 6 years old, I have loved animals and always wanted to take care of them. My parents say I always wanted to be a veterinarian. After a while I decided that I didn't want to become a veterinarian but a veterinary technician. I don't want to do the surgery on the pet and have to tell the family that the pet didn't make it. When I get older I want to become a veterinary technician because I love animals, I own many animals and would like to own more in the future and I enjoy spending time with all animals. For all these reasons, I think a veterinary technician would be a good career for me. Veterinary technicians not to be confused with veterinary technicians must follow an 18-month program ("Institute of Veterinary Technology"). Veterinary technicians must help the veterinarian with things in the clinic, such as helping hold the animal to keep it calm and helping with exams ("Employment Outlook Handbook"). They are more hands-on with animals. They administer anesthetics and assist the veterinarian as he performs surgery on an animal, and they also administer medications to animals ("Employment Outlook Handbook"). I would like to move to the South to go to school because I've always wanted to live in the South, and I think going to school in the South would be the perfect lyrical unit for moving down there. One school I've thought about going to is the Vet Tech Institute in Huston, Texas. This school has an 18-month veterinary technology program ("Veterinary Technology Institute"). They have schools in several places, but I would like to go to the one in Texas. I couldn't find any pricing for the school's veterinary technology program. I will need a high school diploma to get into this school, but to become a veterinary technician you must go to college and get a job in this profession. The working environment in this... halfway... . Right. This job accounts for approximately 74,600 jobs in the United States (“Occupational Outlook Handbook”). I like large animals more, so I would like to work with a large animal vet because I don't want to work in an office. I would also like to move to the south because I hate the cold winters here and would like to always work in warm weather. I want to become a veterinary technician because I love animals, I own a lot of them and would like to own more in the future and being a veterinary technician would help me because I could help dingoes understand what's wrong with them and because I love being around any animal.
