Throughout literature, relationships form between characters; these relationships change over time. As different events occur in a novel, the relationship between two characters could alter positively or negatively. In the novel "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte, the characters Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester experience a change in relationship. The relationship between Jane and Mr. Rochester starts out irritatingly but, as time passes, develops into a loving relationship. The relationship between Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester begins as harsh and cold. On the way to Thornfield Manor, Mr. Rochester fell from his horse onto the hard ground. Jane, who was nearby, gave him a hand so that he could recover from the fall and continue his journey. This was the first meeting between Jane and Mr. Rochester, however, they did not know they were part of a boss-employee relationship. Returning to Thornfield Manor, Jane and Mr. Rochester formally met and learned each other's identities.
