Topic > Response Document: Mamma Mia! The Musical - 1568

“A mother. A daughter. Three possible dads. And a trip down the aisle you'll never forget!” OH MAMA! The musical was performed on Tuesday 18 March 2014 at the Hanover Theater by Work Light Productions, written by British playwright Catherine Johnson and directed by Phyllida Lloyd. A musical based on the 1970s Swedish pop band ABBA's flagship album ABBA GOLD: THE GREATEST HITS set on a Greek island holiday about bride-to-be, Sophie, searching for the self she believes she can find his response by discovering his father's true identity. Sophie comes across her mother's diary from the year she was conceived and learns the names of three possible fathers: Harry Bright, Bill Austin and Sam Carmichael. Sophie sends all three an invitation to her wedding in hopes of discovering the identity of her absent father and joining her as she walks down the aisle to give it to her fiancé Sky. Sophie's mother, Donna, a strong, independent mother who swears she can get on with life without the help of a man next to her, is completely devastated to discover the arrival of her former lovers the day before the Sophie's wedding. Especially the man she cared about most, Sam, who she never wanted to see again for letting her marry another woman. A secret she has been hiding all these years from everyone, including her two best friends, Tanya and Rosie, who together were known as the girl group Donna and Dynamos. Except that Donna herself doesn't even know which of the three is Sophie's father because she slept with all of them in a very short time, one after the other. Sophie thought she could recognize with a glance which of the three men was her father, but now she is even more confused than before feeling... at the center of the card... in the spotlight. I want to be involved in that world… it was during the show that I realized that I love musical theatre. I don't know anything else in the world that would make me happier than performing on stage or being part of the show coming to life, whether behind the scenes or on stage. I want to drag all audiences into the same world as Georgia Kate Haege (plays Donna), she inspired me and I fell in love with the art of musical theatre. SOURCES1. "MAMMA MIA!
