Life of a Salesman People tend to shy away from a sales career because they lack self-confidence or don't want to be the stereotypical pushy or dishonest. A career as a successful sales representative requires a positive attitude and the ability to be creatively persistent to sell a product without imposing it on the customer. According to Alliance (2013), “sales representative jobs have the potential to be dynamic, exciting and very profitable” considering you meet new people every day but sometimes very stressful. The reason it is so stressful is because it requires you to work long hours without the ability to receive commissions and that you regularly deal with rude and dissatisfied customers. Each seller has their own way of presenting their products to you, some are pleasant while others are very unpleasant and embarrassing. Discussion Every seller approaches selling products in their own way based on previous experiences. But some sellers are more respectable and friendly than others. According to Online Business Advisor (2014), “poor salespeople have a short-term mentality looking for quick money, lack organization, or have poor management skills.” Poor salespeople also tend to let stress build up and get the best out of them, resulting in a poor customer experience. This poor customer experience is what has created the stigma of dishonest or pushy salespeople. While a good salesperson will always have a positive attitude and manage stress to provide a pleasant customer experience. Friendly Sales Experience The most reputable salesperson I have ever dealt with was a very friendly person who genuinely wanted to help me. I was shopping at Best Buy trying to buy a new laptop for traveling......with little paper......experience or people with low self esteem are nervous about getting a job in sales considering they don't they let it be known if they will succeed and they don't want to fail. According to Wood (2014), “sales can be a great challenge, a fun career, and a nice way to make a living,” so don't be so quick to judge and try something new. ReferencesAlliance. U.
