4.1 INTRODUCTION In this thesis, MATLAB/SIMULINK software (version 11) was used to design and develop the control circuit for DC to AC conversion and analyze the simulation in MATLAB environment together to Simulink and the toolset power system block (PSB). The name MATLAB symbolizes MATrix LABoratory. MATLAB was initially written to provide easy access to the matrix software developed by the LINPACK (linear system package) and EISPACK (Eigen system package) projects. MATLAB is a good quality performance language for technical computing. Combines computing, visualization and programming environment. Furthermore, MATLAB is a modern programming language domain. It has cynical data structures, contains built-in editing and debugging tools, and drives object-oriented programming. MATLAB has a clear superiority over conventional computer languages (e.g. C, FORTRAN) for determining technical problems. MATLAB is an interdependent system whose basic data element is an array that does not require sizing. The software package has been on the market commercially since 1984 and is now considered a standard tool in most universities and industries around the world. It has a powerful built-in routine that offers a wide variety of calculations. It also features easy-to-use graphical controls that allow you to view results immediately available. Special applications are collected in packages known as toolboxes. There are some tools available for signal processing, symbolic computing, control theory, simulation, optimization, and some other fields of applied science and engineering.
