Sports marketing has reached the fans directly. In the past, only extremely dedicated fans monitored their team online, but now the norm has changed. Now devoted fans learn new information before anyone else and are even rewarded for it. In the article “The Passion of the Fan,” by Stewart Feil, fans are rewarded for posting about their favorite teams on social media. The reason this is possible is because mobile apps have contributed greatly to the way fans follow their teams. In “Sports Marketing and Technology with the New England Patriots,” by Michael Krigsman, he reveals that fans have the ability to send their input on the team to their favorite teams. The most amazing part is that their voice is heard. Tracy Keller reveals how profoundly mobile apps have helped fans and teams interact in her article "The Rise of Mobile in Sports Marketing." It details how fans are getting closer to their favorite teams through the new mobile technology involved in sports. In addition to mobile apps, websites are bringing new life to professional sports and teams. In Greg Johnson's article, "Major Supporters Are Trying to Breathe New Life into the High-Flying Sport of Slamball," he discusses how Youtube has allowed Slamball to maintain its fame, and at the same time is also reviving the sport. Sport and fans have always been together. Sports marketers have tightened interactions between fans and teams through social media, websites and mobile technology. Fans can reach their favorite teams and players through social media. They can read new information on their Twitter and even spread it to other fans and the rest of the social media universe. Fans are using social media... middle of paper... live action, pushing the team to find new ways to provide unique mobile content during games." Apps allow fans to have a more interactive while they are in the stadiums. It also allows teams to listen to their feedback and gives them the opportunity to improve any mistakes they make or, in general, improve the experience for the fans.
