Clay P. Bedford said “You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives." (Edberg, 2007, 21 Inspirational Quotes on Education) Why do people want to educate their children? This question is very important because people want their children are prepared to be effective members of their society. Every country in the world has developed an educational structure that depends on its needs, activities and cultures. When visiting schools anywhere in the world, numerous similarities can be seen On the contrary, the education system of one country is not transferable to the system of any other country. Thus, the three most recognizable aspects seem to stand out between the Egyptian and Canadian education systems: relationship between teachers and students, memorization and comprehension strategy, and extracurricular activities. The first divergence relating to the Egyptian and Canadian education systems depends on the level of formality in the relationship between teachers and students. Usually, in Egyptian culture the relationship between teachers and students is usually tense. Teachers must always be respected and sometimes students also have to put up with the teacher's bad mood.' No matter how familiar students are with the teacher, it is very difficult for students to talk to them about their concerns. Additionally, Egyptian students must call their teachers by a title or position. However, students in the Canadian education system are more capable of talking about their problems with their teachers and have the flexibility to listen to the advice of others. Additionally, Canadian students often call t...... middle of paper ......st to observe their student-teacher interaction, memorization and comprehension style, and extracurricular activities. Despite the differences, the advantage of this comparison is that both countries believe that education is one of the most important segments in people's lives. Joan Vienna said, “The only way we will make a difference is through education.” (Edberg, 2007, 21 Inspirational Quotes on Education) Furthermore, it is very difficult to say which system is better than another system, because each system is suited to the needs, economies and traditions of its country. These differences can be seen as opportunities to promote intercultural relations and share best practices for a better world. As a result, our life would be easier to live and understand each other in a shrinking world and find what is good and what is best for students..
