Introduction Having an effective leadership approach in an organization supports a productive and successful business. In this case, an organization called Valena Scientific Corporation (VSC) failed to have effective leadership. VSC attempted to develop leadership; but it initially failed. This occurred when VSC decided to create a research program for its scientists; this program divided nine people into three groups. Once the groups were divided, management decided to allow informal leadership. This leadership style allows individuals to become leaders without having a position of power (Bacal, 2014). Therefore, every individual in each group has the same authority; but a person may be perceived by others as a leader (making him or her an informal leader). This type of leadership caused a loss of intergroup conflict and communication. Once management realized that the conflict was creating a hostile environment, they decided to appoint a formal leader for the groups. This proved to be a successful decision and allowed the groups to complete their tasks successfully. To ensure that VSC continues to be successful while using teams, changes need to be made to how they lead. It should not depend on management needing to appoint a leader halfway through a project. Lack of Leadership and Communication The main problem that VSC has is its leadership style. Instead of allowing informal leaders to step in, there needs to be a formal leader appointed from the start. The formal leader will have authority over everyone and will be responsible for their staff or team. This way there will no longer be any doubt about who is responsible or who to ask for permission. Another issue that… halfway through the document… was necessary to encourage employee participation, minimize conflict, and maintain team harmony. The company's loyalty to its team members is expressed in the organization's desire to meet the needs of its employees. Once employee needs are met at all levels, the team can ultimately succeed. Conclusion Valena Scientific Corporation will have a promising future with the help of leadership reviews. Appointing a formal leader will help maintain authority in the workplace. Additionally, creating a vision will allow employees to be aware of what they are working on. Furthermore, it is crucial that VSC begins to promote communication with its employees. This will help form relationships and prevent any future conflicts. Overall, VSC has a lot of room for improvement; once they analyze and analyze their weaknesses, they can be very successful.
