Topic > The Future for YWAM and India - The Need to Listen to the...

Whether we are talking about the smallest country in the world, Vatican City, or the largest country in the world, China, all the areas of the world need to hear the Gospel. The Youth with a Mission (YWAM) organization is proving effective in doing this, but many countries such as India have diverse numbers of people groups who have yet to discover the gospel. Even if the need is for one-on-one teaching or something as simple as a donation, India has numerous unreached people groups that need to be reached in their own specific way. Through YWAM's desire to make God's name known, this organization can enlighten its workers about India's fascinating culture, and by adding more bases in northern India, they can reach the Abdul people through charities and stories told in their language much needed. According to the YWAM website, The idea of kids going around the world preaching the gospel was first put into the mind of a 20-year-old student from the United States named Loren Cunningham. In 1956, Cunningham was approached by the Lord through a vision of the gospel spread from continent to continent by people even younger than himself. He describes the vision as waves spreading over each continent and then receding; soon the waves in his vision transform into young people and he realizes that they are spreading the gospel. Six years later, during a mission trip to Hawaii, he glimpsed and became passionate about the vision for his organization. By the end of the year, Loren and his wife Darlene founded an organization designed specifically for young people to share the gospel and called it “YWAM” (“Story of YWAM”). Although many people think that YWAM is only for young people, a number of opportunities are open for people of all ages to get involved. In…middle of paper…Muslims in India live in poverty (Henderson 37). According to the Joshua Project website, the Abdul people literally survive on charity, which makes sense because they are part of that seventy percent. When spreading the gospel to people in need, it is very important to help them with the areas in which they are struggling. For example, if a country is struggling with hunger, providing them with food and water would earn their trust and attention. Using a country's weaknesses to relate to certain biblical stories is also a great technique to use when witnessing. Once again, the starving country would gain new hope if it listened to the stories of Jesus feeding five thousand people. As the Abdul people are struggling with poverty, the best way to reach them would be through charity and the stories about Jesus they provide to those who trust in him.
