Many basic morals are supported by a punishment/law that dictates that we must follow it or suffer the consequences, that's why many people follow those rules so that they don't have to experience the inconvenience . Others are moral so that they can obtain rewards and satisfy their needs. Some do it to gain the respect and approval of their peers for “doing the right thing.” This helps preserve strong relationships with others as they see that they can trust you to make the moral choice if something that concerns them is put into your hands. Conversely, if they see that you don't maintain a moral point of view, they may be less likely to trust you or help you in the future. If they are grateful or indebted to you for your good deeds, they are more likely to help you in your endeavors. Other people are motivated by respect for authority and value the laws of society. Therefore they try to support them. Another reason to support the social contract is because some people believe that in supporting the social contract they are doing the right thing because it provides the “greatest good for the greatest number of people.” Therefore believe that at least basic morality is a social contract that benefits humanity as a
