Topic > Trench Warfare in World War I - 685

Soldiers on the Western Front of World War I lived in the dirt for four years. The bodies were subjected to horrific conditions. The First World War began in 1914 and ended in 1918, with approximately 10 million deaths. Most of the casualties and deaths came from combat called Trench Warfare. Trench warfare is a type of combat in which opposing troops fight from dug trenches, facing each other. Usually these trenches started from afar and continued for kilometers until they reached the war. It was common for new soldiers to be exposed to death by seeing soldiers being shot in front of them. Or even when the soldiers were forced to be sent to what they sought, “no man's land”, it was much worse. Soldiers were massacred with machine guns and usually no survivors remained. It was rare for anyone to reach the enemy trenches. Trench warfare was one of the most brutal fighting strategies ever used in history. It is said that without sacrifice there is no victory. In World War I there was a quote from Mary Elizabeth Braddon (1862) that said “There can be no reconciliation where there is no war. There must be a battle, a brave and turbulent battle, with banners flying and cannons roaring, before there can be peaceful treaties and enthusiastic handshakes. This means that without any kind of action with the enemy they cannot get to fourth place with a peace treaty. When situations like the First World War are underway they must make it known who and what they are dealing with. If you don't know, things like World War I will happen again and again with the same mistakes. This is why without learning history repeats itself again and again. A quote said by Edward Johnson (1915) says: “What we believe is more important than our material existence, so war is a legitimate…paper medium. .....t in front of them, but when it comes to the death of their enemy it means everything to them. But their life means absolutely nothing to them. Once again, as mentioned before, trench warfare was one of the most brutal combat strategies ever used in the history of the world. The First World War, with a death toll of 10 million, consumed two generations that had never existed and took a large population away from the world. Even though World War I was over, World War II would soon begin due to unresolved issues in World War I, but this time with Hitler as the new leader of Germany. Due to the Treaty of Versailles Germany was severely humiliated and when Hitler rose up he promised to make Germany stronger than ever thus enabling the Second World War when the Germans invaded Poland on 1 September 1939. Two days later Britain and France declared war . this concludes my essay.
