Technology has improved the standard of living of people, one major area where this is most noticed is the education sector. Technology has made teaching in schools easier and has also improved research by providing students and staff with the necessary information directly in the comfort zone of their computer systems, the use of projectors as a visual aid has expanded teaching more as students are not only able to know and understand but are able to know how it is done. The use of smart whiteboards and projectors has also improved the dispersion of knowledge from teachers to students, also most libraries today are going electronic and online libraries are increasing rapidly, all thanks to technology. Another merit of technology in education is distance learning, as stated by Bates, students can now study conveniently and at their own time wherever they like, this is made possible thanks to technology. Bates goes on to explain that “the primary reason for the growth of third-generation distance education is the rapid expansion of the Internet and particularly the World Wide Web” (2005, p. 8). The Internet is full of all kinds of materials, such as email, academic research materials, and many others. Despite all these good reasons why technology is an important aspect of our lives, many people insist that technology makes students languid and corrupts them because they are no longer serious and competent in school and continue to use school computer labs to social uses. , go further by claiming that students are much less fortunate in remembering everything they have learned online and are only able to remember where they learned from. This argument, however, is unfounded as research conducted states that...... middle of paper...... has also made e-shopping and online sales an easy way for people to meet and do business. With e-transact people are now able to transfer money offshore with ease. It is clear that technology has ruined life by encouraging wars with weapons of mass destruction, but it should also be noted that technology is the basis on which man's daily activity depends. What technology destroys is what technology builds and reconstructs. Through technology, crime-fighting agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other military units have been able to solve crimes that would have been truly fatal to humanity, for example a terrorist group that almost bombed a gas station in Canada was captured thanks to the use of surveillance cameras. From this we can agree that technology is an important aspect of human life despite the negativity that surrounds it.
