Organizations must be sensitive to the need for change to survive in today's highly competitive and dynamic business environment. Present and future needs inside and outside an organization change every day, the organization must be equipped with a clear and deep understanding of them and simultaneously respond to them as a matter of priority. Indian organizations operate in a highly unstable political and economic environment, so they too are facing the same challenge. For decades, Indian organizations have been less systems-driven and more people- and relationship-oriented. However, the situation has changed with the opening of the economy. Now they must resist global competition with borrowed technologies and insecure, relationship-oriented employees. Organizations have now understood the need to make change quickly; and hence the strong need for OD in Indian organizations.
