Advocates fail to see that vaccinations are beneficial and cause little to no harm. Although vaccines are not one hundred percent safe, they have more advantages than disadvantages. In the worst cases, a vaccination can mean the difference between life and death against a deadly disease. It's not worth the risk of not vaccinating yourself or a loved one. Vaccinations are effective and have been shown to dramatically reduce the number of patients seen by doctors with a vaccine in place. That said, imagine how many sick days you have to take in a year to take care of yourself and your loved ones. Vaccinating yourself and your loved ones could potentially lead to fewer sick days in your family. Additionally, having our loved ones vaccinated makes it more difficult for diseases to spread in or around the home. Vaccinations, in the long term, are economically advantageous. “Vaccinations are one of the most cost-effective preventive public health practices” (Flanders).
