Topic > Why do we sleep? - 1720

SleepThe average person spends a third of their life sleeping. Very little is currently known about why we sleep, which is interesting because a lot of research has been conducted. Studies have shown that sleep can boost memory, increase awareness and even reduce stress. Studying sleep is important because it could reveal how the brain works, a less time-consuming alternative, leading to greater productivity and even improvements in overall health. Currently there are only speculations and theories about why we sleep and dream. With all the theories available it is difficult to choose which one is correct, which is why they should all be studied. Through this article I hope to learn more about why we sleep and what some possible alternatives are. Another question that intrigues me, and that I hope to learn more about, is what our brain does during sleep that makes it so vital. A third topic of interest to me in this field is the science of dreams, why we do them and what they can tell us. Although a lot of research has been conducted in this field, it is still considered one of the main gray areas of science. Several universities now offer courses that explore the mysteries of the world of sleep. Many scientists say that sleep is one of the greatest pristine goldmines of science today. Further advances could lead to increased productivity, health and well-being, making it a valuable and interesting topic to research. Why do we sleep? Scientists have studied sleep from many different angles, but they still can't tell us why we do it. Studies have been conducted on sleep deprivation, sleep patterns, and different sleep stages. Despite decades of growing research and discoveries, the question “why do we sleep” has yet to be answered… middle of paper… In essence, the theory states that bad dreams act as a tool used to prepare the individual for a threat of any kind. While the nightmare may be unrealistic, the theory states that it still serves a purpose in preparing to fight and avoid any threat. Theories are difficult, because they have not yet been proven or disproven, making a definitive answer implausible. For now there is no answer to the question "Why do we dream", but we can continue our search for a correct theory, in the hope of actually finding one. While it is not possible to directly answer the questions in this article, it is important to study theories as they form the basis for research and new knowledge in the field. Furthermore, an accurate theory is equivalent to an inaccurate theory, as both spark questions, debates and new ideas, adding knowledge to the gray area that is the world of sleep..
