IntroductionThe Bureau of Labor Statistics defines an electrical engineer as someone who “designs, develops, tests, and supervises the production of electrical equipment such as electric motors, radar and navigation systems, communications systems or energy production equipment”. Electrical engineers work with, but are not limited to, electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism (What do electrical engineers do?). These engineers can work in laboratories, offices or in the field of some major industries. Electrical engineers can solve problems on a daily basis or develop new technologies that benefit everyone. They typically work on and develop new projects that may include gaming systems, cars, or even robots. Electrical engineers have an average salary of $87,180 per year and is a great choice in the field due to the innovation of this career (Bureau of Labor Statistics). Purpose of the Study This study was conducted to answer the following questions about electrical engineering: 1) How did the study of electrical engineering originate and who and what has contributed to shaping society? 2) What skills are required to become an electrical engineer and how to become one?3) What different types of jobs are available?4) What are the job prospects for the future and how much do they earn per hour and per year? Methods and procedures used Secondary research was conducted using search engines, books and a personal interview. A questionnaire was administered to a currently employed electrical engineer who holds a bachelor's degree. It included questions about his daily life, the skills he uses, the problems he faces, the steps he takes to solve them, and how he sees future change for the field of electrical engineering.
