A big criticism leveled at the Ferrero company is that employees lose their new and excited energy. Most claim that in this “family” business everything they tell employees is made up. It seems like they're stuck in the old way of doing things, perhaps because they're trying to follow in the footsteps of the previous generation. Again, this doesn't appear to be the vast majority of employees, and a minor complaint when it comes to attention points. Looking at a much broader issue, it appears that Ferrero has admitted to receiving raw materials, such as cocoa, from farms where slavery is used to harvest resources. According to several sources, including CNN, Ferrero is one of the first companies to openly take responsibility for the provenance of its products. However, they plan to eradicate slavery on their farms by 2020, which should set an example for other large chocolate companies. Another big argument against Ferrero is the accusations about where their palm oil comes from and the effect it has on the environment. Critics are infuriated that Ferrero claims to use 100% sustainable palm oil, when they believe this palm oil is actually taken from uncontrolled land. The claims suggest that excessive use of palm oil in these products slowly but harms the environment
