Topic > The Pros and Cons of the Death Penalty - 2015

When I think of the death penalty, I always think of the first two murders of the perpetrator and the child molester, I guess it comes from watching all those crime shows. First of all, we have the death penalty in Nebraska: a total of 37 people have been executed here in Nebraska. In February 2008, the Nebraska Supreme Court ruled that electrocution is cruel and unusual punishment. In May 2009, the Nebraska state legislature adopted lethal injection. As time went on there was still a great deal of controversy in Nebraska over whether it was still cruel and unusual punishment. In May 2015, the Nebraska legislature voted 32-15 on LB268 to abolish the death penalty in Nebraska. In the summer of 2015, a pro-death penalty organization collected signatures on a ballot. People like him make you wish that society had done them a little better and that maybe those children would still be alive. Furthermore, the death penalty still remains a hot topic for Americans. I wonder: in the United States the death penalty should be abolished or maintained. The death penalty has pros and cons; the only reason I feel a certain way is that we are taking another life for a life. What I mean by this statement is that the convicted prisoner kills, kills and/or tortures multiple victims, then he is caught in the hands of justice and we want to give them the death penalty based on their record. Now is it justice or do we just want to crucially punish someone. The death penalty is sometimes a difficult topic to talk about, because it is a very sensitive topic. So I support the death penalty, but in the end how many people will we really save if we take one man off the earth against 50,000 other murderers, rapists and child molesters. No one helps themselves to be those things as they grow up in life, some people want to experience different paths in life, but others just don't choose the right one
