The death penalty is and has been a very controversial issue in American society. Much of the debate over capital punishment has been for or against since the history of sentencing criminals to death. Some people feel it is right to kill someone who has taken the life of another person. It was basically considered an act of revenge based on the laws governing the country's legal system. On the other hand, some people consider it illegal and wrong. Those who oppose it recognize the death penalty as an inhumane way of treating criminals. Furthermore, some states in this country have found the need for the death penalty to be unnecessary due to the controversial debates and handling of crime in an unethical manner. In fact, international law and other countries have also abolished the death penalty. Although many people believe that criminals should be given a second chance or at least the opportunity to rehabilitate; supporters of the death penalty see almost no interest in giving these individuals another one...
