The relationship between Alma and Elisabet can be compared to the violent one, the quarrels and betrayal are between two characters in one person. Identity can be changed but changing it for others is harmful to health, this can be seen in our society today, between social media and expectations. Alma is happier being herself and speaking her mind with Elisabet, but after Elisabet's betrayal, she becomes angry and distrustful. Identity can be difficult to embrace if the people closest to you don't accept it or exploit it like Elisabet did. Another small example of identity can be seen in this film, which is the Jewish people in a photograph that Elisabet sees, people who are being persecuted for their religion, their identity. This is a greater measure of social unacceptance. Persona offered a closer look at mental illness, how it really affects people, and how isolating mentally ill people doesn't help as much as it once did
