Dog adoption: giving a chance TOPIC: Why people should adopt rather than buy a dog GENERAL PURPOSE: to persuade SPECIFIC PURPOSE: to persuade the public to adopt dogs rather than purchasing because they are mistreated in puppy mills for the pet trade THESIS STATEMENT: Anyone can always think of purchasing a dog from a pet store without knowing the dark secrets, however, the best way to find a mate is through adopting from a shelter Introduction I. As you might ask, "How much does that little dog in the window cost?" Dogs have always been known as trustworthy and ideal companions, however, considering all this, is it right to adopt or buy a dog?II. Imagine a little boy and his mother leaving Wal-Mart with several bags of groceries. The boy is very bored after shopping with his mother. However, he sees a pet store near Wal-Mart and lights up. They have pug puppies for sale today! Immediately the boy's boredom vanishes and he begs his mother to come into the shop. Once inside, an energetic pug puppy behind the glass wall looks at them with an innocent look. Immediately, mother and son fall in love with him and soon leave the store with an exciting purchase. Actually, this is not very difficult to imagine. In fact, this is an all too common occurrence. (Attract attention)III.
