Introduction and missionRobin Hood and his band of merry men have had a successful first year. With new recruits arriving from the far reaches of England, Robin had achieved his goal of strengthening himself in numbers. Although he was satisfied with the size of the organization, he realized that the necessary preparations had not been made to accommodate the now excessive number of members of his organization. Many challenges now face Robin, such as lack of supplies and funds to support the band, but he cannot lose focus on their original foundation of "Steal from the rich and give to the poor". They must also remain focused on their long-term goal of removing Prince John from power by freeing King Richard from his imprisonment in Austria. Robin Hood must create structure within his organization so that it can continue to grow and prosper. External Analysis Below are the opportunities: A fixed transit tax could be implemented to immediately increase revenue. Accepts the Barons' invitation to join them in their quest to collect the ransom that would free King Richard the Lionheart from his prison in Austria in exchange for Robin's future amnesty. The Baron's assistance would alleviate supply problems. Expand the operation to geographical areas north, south, east and west of Sherwood Forest for the opportunity to create new avenues of revenue. The Merry Men could kill the sheriff thus ending his reign of Nottingham. An immediate downsizing of the gang's staff would solve the problem of additional expenses due to the ever-increasing size of the gang. It could explore new means by which to create revenue other than a seemingly an unpopular choice and the current means of robbing wealthy merchants as they travel through Sherwood Forest. Men could be taught to grow additional fruit and vegetables in the forest to subsidize the lack of game available in the forest. Threats follow: The wealthy merchants who once passed through Sherwood Forest now take alternative routes to avoid it. While this incurs additional costs for merchants, it eliminates the threat of their entire shipment being confiscated by The Band of Merry Men. Reduced traffic along the route results in a loss of revenue for the organization. Although Robin's gang is growing at an uncontrollable rate, the sheriff's forces are becoming stronger and more organized.
