Imagine being part of the greatest team in the world, but instead of playing for wins, losses, or championships, you play for the freedom of your fellow countrymen and women. Think about the teamwork or team dynamics needed to be the greatest team ever. The Chicago Bulls have been called the greatest basketball team of the 1990s, winning six titles in eight years, including a record year in 1996, with a 72-10 record. The hard work, dedication and time put into becoming a great unit starts from the foundation. Team dynamics didn't happen in Chicago, they didn't start at the beginning. Michael Jordan, the star of the team, played 7 years in the NBA before winning his first championship. It wasn't until the right group of players (along with the right coach to lead them) were assembled in the Windy City that the dynasty began to take shape (NBA.COM). Team Dynamics came together for the Chicago Bulls and they were unstoppable. Team dynamics are defined as the often invisible “natural forces” that strongly influence how a team reacts, behaves, or performs. In the Air Force, team dynamics are also important. The United States Air Force was founded in 1942 and today is the largest air power in the largest military in the world. We did not become a force in today's military by accident. The foundation is laid at the beginning and is applied every day. Every year 28,000 airmen graduate from basic training and the first thing they are taught is the basics. The home base ensures that every Airman has what they need to begin a successful career in the Air Force. There are three core Air Force values: integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do that form the foundation for the success of every member of the Air Force. In Team Dynamics of the Air Force, integrity acts as a substructure of all Air Force core values. "Without integrity our reasons for service may be called into question. Without integrity the sincerity of our pursuit of excellence is also called into question," says (Lt. Col. Alan Peaslee). Integrity is defined by dictionary.com as adherence to moral and ethical principles; solidity of moral character; honesty (Dictionary.com 2006). The Air Force simply says do what's right even when no one's paying attention with "the way we've always done it", that's when our integrity is challenged.
